Real asset

Kanyakumari-3660_4உடையர் எனப்படுவது ஊக்கம்; அஃதிலார்
உடையது  உடையறோ மற்று.
/குறள் 591/

பொருள் :
ஒருவனுடைய சொத்து எனக் கருதத் தக்கது அவனின் உள்ள ஊக்கமே ஆகும்;
ஊக்கம் இல்லாதவன் வேறு எதை சொத்தாகப் பெற்றிருந்தாலும் அவைகள் பயனற்று போகும்.

Meaning of this KURAL :
The real asset for a man is his enthusiasm; whatever else he possesses sans enthusiasm is not so very useful.

IMPOSSIBLE is POSSIBLE

The much abused word in motivational messages or thoughts is
IMPOSSIBLE.

Often repeated statement is
“NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE”.
“IMpossible – I(a) M POSSIBLE”

This is repeated or stated as an institutionalized slogan than an inspired truth;

Feeling thrilled over a mere intellectual acknowledgement of ‘nothing is impossible’ and repeating  it like a parrot seems a bit odd; sometimes irritating too.

There seems to be a delusion over this word;
and a feeling of guilt is inadvertently planted in mind’s of people that
to say impossible is wrong, nay a crime.

This is far from truth.

It is not wrong to acknowledge and accept a few as impossible.
It is not wrong to admit something is impossible according to you.
There is no need for everything to become possible in your life.
Even what you want to have and that seems impossible at that time, it is ok to acknowledge and carefully weigh the ways of making it happen than rushing to get hyped(deluded) by any motivational methods .

I don’t accept NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE.
Nothing is possible
I am doing NOTHING many a times.

NLP through stories – story 46

Once upon a time a foolish brahmin came to visit
Birbal with a strange request.
He wanted to be addressed as ‘pandit’.

Now, the term ‘pandit’ refers to a man of learning.
But unfortunately
this poor brahmin was uneducated.
Birbal tried to explain the difference
to him saying that it was not correct to call an uneducated man a
pandit and because of this very reason it would be improper to call him
so.
But the silly brahmin had his heart set on this title.
So, as
usual, Birbal had a brilliant idea.
He said that as the brahmin was an
uneducated man he should hurl abuses and stones at anyone who dared to
address him by the very same title he wanted.
Then Birbal called all his
servants to himself and ordered them to call this lowly brahmin a
pandit.
The brahmin was very pleased.
But the moment the servants
started calling out to him as ‘pandit’

he pretended to be very angry and
started to abuse them loudly.
Then he picked up a few stones and hurled
them in their direction.
All as per clever Birbal’s advice.
All this shouting and screaming drew a crowd.
When
people realised that this brahmin was erupting every time anyone called
him ‘pandit’,

they all started to tease him.
Over the next couple of
days, he would constantly hear  ‘pandit’ wherever he went.

Very soon the whole town started referring to him as ‘pandit’ much to
his delight.
The foolish brahmin never realised why people were
calling him in this manner.
And was extremely pleased with the result.

This Pandit thanked Birbal from the very bottom of his foolish heart.

What you resist always persist.
The more you are conscious of what you don’t want, the more it appears to be present.
Nature abhors vacuum;
So the more you pay attention to what you dont want, the more strongly it stays with you;
whereas if you can start focusing on what you want then will start moving towards you, to stay with you.

‘The easiest way to kill a foe is to make him a friend’ ( unknown)

According to the principle of NLP, ” Everything has a purpose/ meaning for its existence’
Even our so called ‘negative’ has a purpose to fulfill, a positive intention;
if one can, you know, acknowledge its presence with open mind, understand the positive intention and manipulate accordingly, then it becomes easy to modify behavior.

NLP through stories – Story 45

This story is widely known.
A father was very worried over quarreling sons.
Almost all his attempts to make them realize the importance of unity failed.
He was nearing death;
He called all his sons;
He gave them each a stick and asked them to break it; they broke easily;

then he asked them to bundle the sticks.
And he asked them to break the sticks in the bundle;
The sons could not break however hard they tried.

This story is narrated to explain the power of togetherness;
unity is strength .
Wonderful yes..

Yet I draw another lesson from this story.

Any new habit or behavior –  if it is nurtured on a regular basis it can become a part of your nature..
Power of consistency.
This process of conditioning is well explained by this story.
How?
Like in the story, a single stick – it gets easily broken; same way any new learning or skill or behavior if done only once like the single stick breaks away from our system easily.
If every day we practice it is akin to tying one stick everyday to the bundle;
in about 21 days, like the bundle of sticks cannot be broken easily and the sticks stay safe together, this new behavior stays with the individual safely.
Stick to the practice regularly;
What you  nurture becomes your nature.

NLP through stories – Story 44

A stag while drinking water saw his own reflection and mused,” What splendid horns I have! So sturdy, yet so graceful; these would certainly save my life’s combats. But my legs… how spindly and thin they look! It’s a wonder they are able to carry my weight.”
 At that time some huntsmen with a pack of hounds appeared and the stag started running for life.
So long as the plain was free of trees he kept running giving a good distance ahead; his legs carried him ahead.
But when he came to woody place his horns got entangled in the overhead branches, and unable to move further he was caught.
In the last moment he thought, ” How foolish I was; things that I doubted & despised saved me, while those which I trusted and admired have brought  about my end.”
Well,  all that glitters is not gold; appearance is deceptive, …. whatever interpretation.. one can give for this story.
According NLP everything is useful in its context;
each must be evaluated in its context
NLP advocates non-judgemental approach;
‘nothing to compare, nothing to compete’
Get to know the context of any behavior or communication and
understand the best intention though you may not approve the behavior apparently.
Every thing is context specific;
it is the context that decides the appropriateness or inappropriateness.

NLP through stories — story 43

A cat and a fox were exchanging views upon the difficulties of living in peace and guarding from predators.
The fox said, ” I do not care a bit for any of them; things may be bad;
I have thousand one tricks to show my enemies before they can harm me”

“you are very fortunate” replied the cat with a bit of jealousy and feeling low, ” I have only one way of evading enemies only way to escape”

The fox said, ” I am sorry for you with all my heart. Don’t worry when enemies come I will teach you one of my techniques.

Hardly had he finished  this a pack of hounds suddenly burst upon them.
The cat resorted to her single trick of climbing the tree for safety.
From there he watched what happened.
The fox not able to make up his mind which trick to use lost its time and was caught by the pack of hounds

Knowledge merely intellectualized does not come to rescue at times of danger or emergency.
During crisis it is the habit pattern that manifests.

Life is not a seminar where you sit safely and debate leisurely.
Life is to be lived meeting contingencies & emergencies as they appear at unexpected moments.
Life always bristles with problems of varying magnitude.
The process of surmounting problems constitutes progress in life.

In order to progress knowledge must be internalized,
knowledge must get into your bones & flesh and cell and blood.

In NLP this internalized knowledge is said as UNCONSCIOUS COMPETENCE.
Only unconscious competence gives spontaneity in action.
‘thought proof action’

Doing alone  gives unconscious competence.
The great end of life is not knowledge but action says Tony Robbins.

Bruce Lee says, ” I am not afraid of the man  who has practiced 10000 kicks once; I am afraid of the man who has practiced one kick 10000 times”
yes power of precision, spontaneous & swift action without deliberation contemplation at the time of action..

NLP stresses upon unconscious competence..
Practice is essential for this.
It is in doing that one gains mastery.
Lest it is merely ‘mouthing’
 Be a man of action.

NLP through stories – Story 42

A sculptor started carving two statues of the same model.
One he was making it at his backyard all alone.
The other he was making at the front yard of his house.
His friends acquaintance passers by , whoever dropped in observing the making of a statue started giving suggestions to the sculptor to modify the look size shape of the statue;
one suggested to keep a parrot on the shoulder, an army man suggested to keep a gun, one said of special boot,  a beggar suggested give a bowl,  – each offered ‘valuable’ suggestion.
The sculptor without refusing any suggestion accommodated all the requests & suggestions.
The other statue at the backyard he was making all alone by his own choice & with his own idea.

After finishing both, he kept them for public view.
Everyone praised what the sculptor made all by himself.
The other one made as per the wishes of others was very ugly and everyone detested.

NLP says of Metaprogram, a filter to understand and interpret events.
One of the filters is Frame of referenceInternal reference/ External reference.

Internal reference is people relying on their internal feedback, (self evaluation & self understanding) than depending on external feedback;
External reference is relying more on others opinion & approval for your worth & merit.

Though it is a continuum, yet people have preferred way of filtering events, a dominant filter;
we can say innie or outie

Fact is no two people see the world with same eyes
Hence to rely excessively on others opinions & advice may lead us to go astray,
like the statue kept at front yard becoming ugly and distasteful;
If you rely purely on others opinion it is only a matter of chance for you to get the best.

To rely more on your internal feedback and go by intuition is suggested for excellence in work.
It is inner excellence at work often produces remarkable result.
Listen to yourself; that is where answer to all your life’s problem comes.
People who listen to themselves don’t often come to regret.
Be your guide.
NLP emphasizes that.
You are already your master.
VRnlp makes you realize that.
