பொருள் :
ஒருவனுடைய சொத்து எனக் கருதத் தக்கது அவனின் உள்ள ஊக்கமே ஆகும்;
ஊக்கம் இல்லாதவன் வேறு எதை சொத்தாகப் பெற்றிருந்தாலும் அவைகள் பயனற்று போகும்.
Meaning of this KURAL :
The real asset for a man is his enthusiasm; whatever else he possesses sans enthusiasm is not so very useful.
sokasthaana saharaani bayasthaana sathaani cha !
dhivasae dhivasae mootamaavisanthi na panditham!
Meaning :
Thousand reasons to feel worried,
hundred reasons to feel the fear – happens only in a fool.
The wise remains untouched.

விளக்கம் : ஒரு வேளையாவது வாழும் தன்மையை அறியாதவர்கள்;
ஆனால் மனசுல மட்டும் கோடிக்கும் அதிகமாக கணக்கு செய்து எண்ணிக்கொண்டிருப்பர்.
Strange is human attitude; he does not know what he can do the next moment;
yet he talks of thousand & one possibilities and ways doing and achieving.
These people are paper tigers, arm chair achievers, trying to measure everything in words and analysis;
practically useless; and such people will keep on explaining away even failures as a conspiracy of the universe.
Thiruvalluvar here emphasizes being practically effective than theoretically efficient.

கற்றவர்கள் முன் தாம் கற்றவற்றை அவர்கள் மனத்தில் பதியுமாறு சொல்லி ஏற்கவைக்கத் தெரிந்தவர்களே, கற்றவர்களிலேயே மேலானவர்களாக மதித்து சொல்லப்படுவர்.
படித்தவர் மனத்தில் இடம் பிடித்தலே படித்தவரின் படிப்பின் பயன்.

பொருள் : நல்லதையே எண்ணி நல்லதையே செய்யும் நாட்டம் உடையவர்கள் நல்லது செய்வதை கடமை என எண்ணி நல்லதே செய்வார்கள். அவர்கள் கடமை என எண்ணுவதே நல்லது செய்வதையே.
Meaning: Those who have a leaning towards goodness & well being of world will treat every good thing as a duty to be fulfilled. They will not wait for prompting; they will not seek for rewards; the very act of doing good to the world is a reward for them; Goodness for the sake of goodness.
“தன்னைத்தான் ஆளுந் தன்மைநான் பெற்றிடில்
எல்லாப் பயன்களும் தாமே எய்தும்
அசையா நெஞ்சம் அருள்வாய் !”

மனசால் பொருந்தாதவரோடு சேர்ந்து வாழும் வாழ்க்கை சிறிய குடிசைக்குள் பாம்புடன் வாழ்வதற்கு சமம்.

Meaning : “The world considers ignorance or imprudence as truly impoverishment & not pennilessness” says Thiruvalluvar.

Meaning :
He alone is a master of words who speaks short, sweet and clear.
Explanation : Say only those words that are relevant and useful says Thirukkural. It is not the words alone that have impact, it is the way and the intention behind those words that have an appeal unconsciously. Hence talking precisely is more important than elaborate detailing with an intention to impress; express clearly, rest is taken care of.

Explanation :
A person with strong will will not be shattered by difficulties or feel elated by the easy process while performing his tasks and his focus will be more towards sucessful completion of task than being easily influenced by difficulties or comfort
